Volunteer at SMM School

Family is vital. Their safety is essential.

At SMM, we encourage family participation at our school and church. Volunteers enhance our community and are vital to many services and programs, including cafeteria support, recess monitors, homeroom, club or program support, coaches, and more.

To protect the safety of all children, it is the policy

of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia that anyone who serves as a volunteer within our school completes the clearance process as outlined below. Everyone, including both paid and volunteer staff, on a parish, school, or central administration level that has direct contact with minors is required to complete this process. While this process may seem cumbersome, it will protect our community's most precious resource—our children.

Adults Who Volunteer With Children

Provisional Volunteers

No provisional status for Pennsylvania residents.

Volunteers who reside in another state or country may work on a provisional basis for no more than 30 days while the Pennsylvania State Police, the Department of Public Welfare, and the FBI are processing the background checks, so long as they provide clearances from their state or country of residence.

Occasionally, these requirements change in order to help ensure the safety of all our children. Please check with the office if you have any questions about the volunteer process or to ensure you are up-to-date on the current year's requirements.
